NRM Framework

Our Partners

The South West Natural Resource Management (NRM) Region is one of five in West Australia - the other regions are the South Coast, Swan, Avon and Northern Agriculture Regions.

The success of NRM in the South West is a result of strong networks and partnerships that have developed over time and will continue to do so. Our partnerships are mutually beneficial for all and ensure that resources and expertise are used to maximise  benefits for all.

Our partners include Local Government of which, there are 33 Local Government areas contained within SWCC boundaries, Government Agencies who are guided by local, state and federal legislation and have the power to enforce compliance in respect to NRM. They also provide technical support and resources for Catchment Groups. The Australian and State Governments are partners in funding, developing, implementing, monitioring and evaluating strategic targets for NRM in the South West.

Future directions for NRM involve further development of partnerships within our community so that we all own the responsiblity of NRM and understand the value of making a committment to caring for and preserving the assets in our Region. Our community includes the following: General Community; NRM volunteers; Project and NRM Officers; CoastSwap; Academic Scientific Community; Indigenous Community, Local Political Representatives; Land Conservation District Committees; Industry; Landowners; Regional Development Commission; Local Action Groups; Non-Government Organisations like Greening Australia; Federal Government Ministers; State Government Ministers and Sub-Regional Catchment Groups.
