Marvelling at recent work undertaken at Injidup Point is Yallingup Land Conservation District Committee (YLCDC) deputy chair Lawrie Schlueter, SWCC regional coastal NRM facilitator Gene Hardy and SWCC regional coastal NRM facilitator  (Bunbury) Troy Fynmore.

An ingenius idea to use a helicopter for restoration work at Injidup Point made light work of 800 heavy straw bales for coastal experts and volunteers.

Straw bales have been used at Injidup Point to build artificial sand dunes designed to restore dunes from severe erosion.  The YLCDC worked together with the Department of Environment and Conservation to transport the bales to the beach by helicopter.

Volunteers built three - four bale high walls. The plan is that they will be covered by sand within the next few months. Mr Schlueter praised the work of the helicopter pilot who carried 10-20 bales at a time, significantly reducing the number of hours transporting them in, had they been taken in any other way.
